Thanks sm from hk! I've been struggling with increasingly disabling back pain for the past few months, and most of the research materials are not really helpful. They did bring me to guess I might've done something wrong anatomy-wise, like I know I'm overwhelmed by the constant stress of back extensions and should correct that asap, but not until watching your explanation do I understand what exactly I should be correcting. Huge thanks, sincerely!

因為當時剛發生未腫出來(within one hour)。next morning usually will be very swollen and internal bleeding will show up in next few days. it was a grade 2 sprain. FYI: I did put pictures in my facebook for the swelling afterwards.
I love this! It even helps me improve my awareness for soft acrobatics!

Brilliant explanation and great model to show what happens! We are going thru the same "revolution" in yoga with the cue about shoulders/scaps back and down...a dangerous thing to do to lock the scaps. They have to rotate and pivot depending on the arm position. You also end up with rotator cuff tears and wearing down of the supraspinatus tendon thru the acromion, as well as tears of the infra and teres. Orchestra conductor and yogi here, so I deal with a lot of the same issues of arms outstretched in front and sides for long periods and their effect on the shoulder and upper back.

How is the turnout active in this prone position? Correct placement in ballet involves the engagement of turnout from hip. Would this change in any way the muscles involved or sequence?

I was the most flexible girl in my school but I could never do a full frog with my feet on the ground. Now I have hip problems but not sure if it has anything to do with not being able to do that?
Let me be more exact, I could never get my feet together.
It is just anatomical difference for each person. there is nothing wrong with your hips even if you are unable to do the frog leg.

+Jenny Dance Physio 目前有在做治疗,半个月内做了两次治疗。但是医生说我的问题主要在胯的外部,所以没有集中在内测。还有就是我每天都有芭蕾训练,所以在turn out position的同时提那侧的脚就又疼又很难把握平衡。我需要再跟医生做沟通吗?还是继续这样治疗?
半個月才只做兩次治療。太少了。一星期兩次才夠。而且治療必需充份了解舞蹈的運動性質才有用。

Oliver Hill I wanted to point out another problem with this strengthening exercise. In the exercise, it is a pulling rather than push action. That is not simulating the dance movement when the foot is always pushing the floor. So this may affect the propioception (joint sense and balance) of our leg.
